Instructions:
-
Cook the Spaghetti:
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti and cook according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
-
Prepare the Bolognese Sauce:
- In a large skillet or saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
- Add the chopped onion and garlic. Sauté for about 5-7 minutes until the vegetables are softened.
- Decase the sausage mince from the sausages and add the sausage mince and diced prosciutto to the pan. Cook until browned, breaking up the meat with a spoon, about 8-10 minutes.
- Pour in the red wine and let it simmer until reduced by half, about 5 minutes (Optional).
- Shake then pour in the Napoletana Sauce. Mix well.
- Add the chopped carrots and celery.
- Pour in the broth and bring the mixture to a simmer. Reduce the heat to low and let it cook for 45 minutes to 1 hour, stirring occasionally. The sauce should thicken and develop a rich flavor.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
-
Combine and Serve:
- Add the cooked spaghetti to the sauce, tossing to coat the pasta evenly.
- Serve hot, garnished with fresh basil leaves and a generous sprinkle of grated Parmesan cheese.
Tips:
- For a richer flavor, let the sauce simmer for even longer, up to 2 hours, on very low heat.
- You can also add a splash of milk or cream at the end for a creamier sauce.
